Abstract: Professional promotion of faculty members is one of the most important factors examined in evaluating specific characteristics of the performance of any university and its realization creates better results in outcomes of the system. This descriptive analytical research was done in 2015 in order to analytically review the regulations to enhance the level of faculty members of universities and higher education institutions.Ministry of Health and Medical Education of the Islamic Republic of Iran with regard to the opinions of experts and also library studies and searching articles in Iranian and international journals as well.Promotion of faculty members involves the review and evaluation of ongoing cultural, education, research and administrative activities of faculty members, which leads to stabilization and reform of the pyramid of the faculty of any university. Indicators of promotion start from the rank of assistant professor, associate professor to professor, according to regulations of level promotion of faculty members adopted by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution of Iran approved in 2011. Therefore, measures must be taken to upgrade and improve the regulations by introducing fair and transparent practices, developing quantitative and qualitative indicators for assessing the activities, homogenizing the processes, and using specialist forces in promotion Committees of universities, avoiding the pivotal article and paying more attention to educational activities, optional-making of cultural article of promoting faculty members to accelerate the promotion process.
